I also wanted to do a little blog on how this past year has changed my life!!
- First off, obviously losing over 100 pounds is the BIG change!!!
- I went from wearing a size 26/28 to a 16. (Sometimes I can wear a 12/14 or 8/10 in knit shorts!!)
- My bra size went from 42DD to 38D. (I was kinda depressed that the girls were disappearing...but I'm good with it now!!)
- I have collarbones!!! And hip bones!! And wrist bones!!! And when I lay down I can see the outline of my ribs!!
- I can RUN!!! For short distances...but I can do it and it feels good!!
- I wore a dress to work at the end of school. I would have never done that a year ago. I got a lot of comments on my "tan and tone" legs...LOL
- I haven't eaten any pasta, rice, or soft bread (I occasionally eat croutons on my salad or a piece of crusty garlic bread - but most of the time that bothers me so I avoid it!) or drank a soda in a year. I don't miss any of it!!
- I stood on the sidelines during football season with the entire stadium looking at me every Friday night with my head held high. CONFIDENCE!!!
- I came out of my shell at work. I made friends - great friends!!!
- I take pride in getting "dolled up" now.
- I took Zumba and danced my little a-rhythmic heart out.
Here's a question: I was told (by some women getting a fill at my one week post-op appointment) that we (bandsters) aren't supposed to drink from a straw. I've never directly asked my surgeon...I can never remember to ask...but was that in anyone else's guidelines??? Just wondering!!! It's hard to go to Sonic and get a tea and have to take the lid off and NOT spill!!!
Now I'm on to my list-making. We are going to the lake for the weekend. Peace and relaxation with a little fishing thrown in!!! It's my own piece of heaven!!!
Toledo Bend. My home away from home!! |
I've also heard that we aren't supposed to drink through a straw. I am just speculating, but it probably could cause us to either, take in air that could stretch the pouch, or possibly that we could gulp more liquid in a short period of time than we should be drinking.
ReplyDeleteThe thing with the straw is this: you swallow a lot of air when you drink from a straw which can make you feel gassy. My understand is that is the only reason why other then drinking to fast!
ReplyDeleteI rarely drink from a straw any way so I've found it not to be a big deal. Same thing with chewing gum. They said not to. But I do on occasion..I just don't swallow it!
You've done well in the past year. If you drink from a straw I wouldn't worry about it! :)
I love this. All those NSV's in such a short amount of time. Who'd have thought, huh?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I was gonna say that protein shake seemed a little dicey, but I'm glad everyone else let ya know. :)
YAY!!!!! Love those NSVs and thanks for sharing. I held off on dringking from a straw for about 8 weeks, but I couldn't handle it I mean I had given up so much already that if giving up my straw didnt help in my weight loss then I would keep it and just deal with extra gas.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a soda in 12 weeks and I am not sure what I miss most about that, the carbination or knowing what I am gonna order to drink. I have just always had a diet soda and now I actually have to think about what to order that is when I do......
Congrats and have fun.
So many great things in your life in just one year! Congratualtions to you!!! You are doing a great job!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE those NSV's!! You're doing such a terrific job and I am proud and happy for YOU!! Now, get off that couch and get back to WORK!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on ALL you have accomplished!!
I find that I can ONLY drink from a straw. It has never bothered me and I find I drink more water with a straw. I think a lot of the things they tell band patients are trial and error. Everyone is different and everyone's band is different too. it hink try it if you want and see how you feel.
ReplyDeleteI am following you!
ReplyDeleteRegarding your success! Go Girl! So excited for you! You are doing great!
I use straws everyday.
